Retaliation

Under Title VII of federal law, and most

state and local anti-discrimination

statutes, retaliation occurs when an

employee is fired or has her terms and

conditions of employment changed as a

result of making a formal complaint of

discrimination.  Title VII also protects

those who testify, assist or participate in

an investigation of illegal activity or who

oppose unlawful employment practices.
