Today’s lead story in the NY Times, “Business Lobby Presses Agenda Before ’08 Vote” should have been entitled…

Wealthy Business Owners Voting Republican Vote for Own Interests, Even if Short-Sighted and Mean-SpiritedEveryone Else Votes Republican Due to Ignorance caused By Profound Stupidity and Laziness aided by Corporate Media Collusion.

The story reveals that the United States Labor Department, the Bush Administration, the GOP candidates and the powerful Business Lobby are pushing the Administration to “roll back” numerous protections for us, our children and our environment because they are worried that a possible new Democratic president will thwart their efforts to poison, hurt, abandon and generally bone the majority of the US populace.

Millions of corporate dollars are being spent lobbying the corporate-friendly government to force employees to work longer hours above federally mandated maximums, dump poisonous toxic refuse in our streams and valleys to kill and maim our children and reduce the protections of the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, which requires employers with 50 or more employees to allow employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave per year for the birth or adoption of a child; for the serious medical condition of the employee him or herself or to care for an ailing child, spouse or parent. The National Association of Manufacturers has been successfully persuading this all-business, all-the-time administration and its crony-staffed and run US Department of Labor that the FMLA has been widely abused and has caused “a staggering loss of work hours, as employees took unscheduled, intermittent time off for health conditions that could not be verified. The use of such leave time tends to rise sharply before holiday weekends, on the day after Super Bowl Sunday and on the first day of the local hunting season, employers said.” The notion that companies suffer the absence of employees after the Super Bowl or before a long holiday weekend is a home-spun red herring, otherwise known in less polite blogging circles as a big lie. The FMLA does not cover employees who call in sick after the Super Bowl or the Memorial Day weekend, and any such blatantly false spin is simply used in service to the contrived notion that providing compassionate accommodation to people who are ill or caring for seriously ill loved ones or, who are out of work on maternity leave (the primary group covered by the FMLA) is too expensive for Big Business to bear. In other words, Corporate American wants to fire you if you’re sick or on maternity leave.

Which continues to prove the thesis that oxymoronic “Women Republicans” or GOP-voting average workers, are only Democrats or Independents who have not yet personally been fired or otherwise been screwed by Big Business in America, Inc., as we feebly lurch into a Republican-bred and brokered recession. Nine billion dollars per month to preserve the Middle East oil interests of Dick Cheney, Halliburton, mercenary contractors and the corporate military by killing poor people, including our own, in Iraq (as we geometrically generate hordes of new terrorists who want to kill us because of our barbaric actions, not because of “our freedoms,” but we can’t afford health insurance for American children. It’s sort of like the argument for Creationism. Can anyone explain it without simply parroting, it’s my faith? We need answers to address how collectively dumb we are as global citizens. Anybody? I’ll wait”¦..
