If you are being fired from your job in a so-called reduction-in-force or RIF, the question is if its legitimate RIF.
Are they actually eliminating your position, or are they just sort of taking the essential functions of your job and making another position and calling it a RIF to mask the real reason they are letting you go which has nothing to do with the legitimate reduction-in-force.
Did you recently return from a protected leave, such as a maternity leave? Did you recently complain of discrimination or resist or oppose sexual harassment? If the reason that they are saying its a RIF is not true and its actually discriminatory or retaliatory, you may want to take your time before signing a release of all of your rights and taking whatever your company is offering you as severance.
